Nature aids Tasc in polo shirt solution

Tasc Performance's new MicroAir Element polo shirt collection took years of research and countless prototypes to create, but the mission never wavered — debunk the industry’s reliance on chemical finishes to achieve performance features.
“We saw a need for a lighter weight, durable, easy-to-wear fabric that would be cling-free and drape nicely while moving moisture and drying fast," said Todd Andrews, Tasc co-founder. "We looked to nature, using micro modal fibers from beechwood trees to achieve a fabric that performs naturally."
Micro modal fiber is known for its softness and breathability, and when blended with an ultra-fine micro polyester it creates a smooth, lightweight garment. Other brands use 100 percent synthetic fabrics treated with multiple chemical finishes to achieve performance attributes such as moisture-wicking. These finishes can degrade through washing cycles, and who knows what might be seeping into our skin when wearing them.
Adapting micro modal to blend with fine denier micro poly requires a highly technical spinning method that isn’t common in the industry.
“Perfecting the spinning process is what allows MicroAir to achieve a ‘wearing experience’ that balances comfort, performance, natural and technical, in a way that meets the versatile demands of the modern lifestyle,” Andrews said.
Currently there are three selections of the shirt in a micro-stripe pattern and three solid colors with price points of $79-$84. In addition to the super soft hand feel, features include four-way stretch, self collar with permanent stays, french front placket, trocus shell buttons, no top should seam and a one-inch drop tail with side slits. The fit is comfortable modern — not too tight and not too loose.
Tested and worn by PGA Tour pros Scott Stallings and Chris Kirk gives added testimonial to the notion of "comfort without chemicals."
“It’s the softest fabric I’ve ever felt,” Stallings said.
Family run and based in New Orleans, Tasc Performance brings 68 years of textile development, garment design and manufacturing experience to its products. The fabrics Tasc uses is unique and are not available from any other brand. Tasc is also committed to sustainable practices in manufacturing its products such as a start to finish, closed loop water treatment process. This guarantees that 99 percent of waste water and dye runoff is recovered and re-used.
Products are manufactured at a factory that produces exclusively for Tasc Performance and where 90 percent of the energy used in making garments is renewable, mostly provided by solar panels.
