Jon Rahm Teases Plans for 2024 Masters Champions Dinner Menu

Less than 72 hours have passed since Jon Rahm clinched his first Masters victory, but he’s already given thought to an Augusta National tradition that will take place a year from now: the annual Champions Dinner

Rahm, speaking during a pre-tournament press conference at the RBC Heritage, admitted that the dinner is the event he’s “given the most amount of thought already.”

At the dinner—which is strictly open to past winners of the tournament and Augusta National Chairman Fred Ridley—the defending champion is tasked with putting together a hand-picked menu to be served to the group. This year, Scottie Scheffler chose a meal that was heavily influenced by his Texas roots.

At Harbor Town, Rahm who hails from from Spain, disclosed that he’ll craft the spread with his good friend and renowned Spanish-American chef, Jose Andres, who boasts an Instagram following of 947,000 and is a huge golf fan. He even caddied for another Spanish golfer and Masters champion, Sergio Garcia, in the annual Masters Par-3 Contest this year.

“Chef Jose Andres is a really good friend of mine, so I’ll be working with him. I also want to talk to [Jose Maria Olazabal], because we’re from the same part of Spain, to see what he did in his dinner, see if I can go a different route,” Rahm said.

With his victory at Augusta National, Rahm joined Olazabal, Garcia, and Seve Ballesteros, his lifelong hero, as Masters winners from Spain. Olazabal, a two-time Masters champion, served paella at one of his dinners, while Garcia went with a Spanish rice dish called arroz caldoso de bogovante.

Rahm wants to represent his Spanish heritage on the special night, while also making sure his meal differs from his predecessors.

Although the world No. 1 didn’t reveal too many details about his culinary plans, he did mention one item that will most certainly be included in his selection of appetizers.

“I think I have one of the appetizers down, which would be jambon, Spanish ham, the dessert, which I won’t be disclosing, and the wine. Everything in between is still up in the air. Those three things, I think I have down for now,” Rahm said.
