Pro Golfer Misses Shortest Putt Imaginable at Korn Ferry Tour Event

They might not always be captured on live TV, but believe it or not, professional golfers do miss short putts. The pros don’t lip-out from inside four feet nearly as much as the rest of us do, (whether we accept that reality or not), but it definitely happens—even to the best of the best.
Jon Rahm four-putted the opening hole of the 2023 Masters, and just this week, three-time major champion Padraig Harrington missed a brutal two-foot putt at the Senior Open that did a 360 around the lip of the cup.
But if you thought those incidents were painful to watch, just take a look at what happened to Tom Whitney during this week’s Korn Ferry Tour event, the NV5 Invitational.
Korn Ferry Tour events don’t get TV time often, but thanks to Barstool Sports, all four rounds of this week’s tournament are being broadcast on Barstool.tv.
The extensive coverage of the event meant this stunning putting debacle from Whitney was captured in its entirety.
Whitney, an Air Force veteran turned professional golfer, missed a putt that appeared to be less than three or four inches long.
You absolutely HATE to see that. One of the shortest missed putts EVER.

Whitney was so shocked by what he had just done that he reached down to grab his ball out of the hole before realizing that it had ricocheted another four feet away, almost hitting his own foot.
The Barstool commentators were equally as stunned as the 34-year-old pro.
Ryan French, the man behind the popular Twitter account Monday Q Info, happens to be caddying for Whitney at the NV5, and he provided some detail around the bone-chilling incident after the round. French knew his player’s error would take quite the toll on him, so he kindly let him process it on his own, and the strategy proved to be successful.
And @willwilcoxgolf told me sometimes you have to leave a player alone. On the tee I told to take a second and make sure he was in a good frame to hit it. He smoked a drive and I just let him walk to the his ball alone. He didn’t need me in his ear. Let him get thru it.

We sincerely hope Whitney has recovered from the putt, but we’re not quite there yet ourselves.
