Southern Pines Golf Club's Lost Hole is Found

Course architect Kyle Franz is restoring Donald Ross' 'Lost Hole,' a par-3 hole that is part of an extensive restoration of Southern Pines Golf Club in Southern Pines, N.C.

Course architect Kyle Franz is restoring Donald Ross' "Lost Hole" as part of an extensive restoration of Southern Pines Golf Club, which was acquired by Pine Needles Lodge and Golf Club in July 2020 and will reopen in September 2021.

The hole was discovered while combing through photos and drawings in advance of the restoration. The hole will play as a 120-yard par 3 and will also feature a sand green at 100 yards, similar to what Ross designed originally around 1911-13.  

The hole sits between holes 1-4 and 15-18, thus helping to create a nine-hole loop.
