Champions crowned at Arkansas high school tennis overall state tournament

Stella de Vera of Rogers Heritage and Jonesboro's Ethan Richardson were the overall winners

Stella de Vera of Rogers Heritage and Ethan Richardson of Jonesboro won the Arkansas High School Tennis overall championship Tuesday at Burns Park. 

de Vera defeated Caroline Jones of North Little Rock 6-2, 2-6, 6-3 in the final. She defeated Zayla Ware of Joe T. Robinson 6-3, 4-6, 6-3 while Jones defeated Naya Kessman of Haas Hall Fayetteville 6-2, 3-6, 6-1. de Vera had a first-round bye where she beat Hannah Hyeman of Valley View 6-3, 6-0. Jones defeated Audrey Waters of Elkins 6-1, 6-0 to get to the semifinals. 

Richardson defeated Graham Hardin of Bentonville West 6-3, 6-0 in the championship. Richardson defeated Justus Thurlby of Shiloh Christian 6-0, 6-1 in the semifinals while Hardin beat Michael Homsi of Pulaski Academy 6-0, 6-1. Richardson had a first-round bye and beat Gabe Clevenger of Shiloh Christian 6-0, 6-1 to get to the semifinals. Hardin beat Jackson Dison of Parkers Chapel 6-3, 6-0 to get to the semifinals.

In girls doubles, Bentonville’s Kavya Kurichety and Glennah Lanford defeated Caroline Lasley and Khushi Patil of Little Rock Central 7-5, 6-3. Kurichety and Lanford advanced to the finals with a 6-0, 6-1 victory over Sydney Turner and Brooke Meek of Haas Hall Fayetteville. Lasley and Patil got to the finals with a 6-3, 6-3 victory over Jaynie Angtuaco and Danna Homsi of Pulaski Academy. Lanford and Patil had a first-round bye and beat Caroline Nick and Alyssa Jansen of Central Arkansas Christian 6-0, 6-0. Lasley and Patil also had a first-round bye and beat Haley Tancinco and Avery Tranum of Searcy 6-1, 6-0.

The boys doubles title went to Bentonville’s Boyce Read and Santiago Aguirre, who defeated Spencer Holloway and Jacob Nordin of Fayetteville 6-2, 4-6, 6-3. Read and Aguirre defeated Pierce Blackman and Finley Chafin of Mountain Home in the semifinals 6-0, 6-0. Holloway and Nordin defeated Brandon Nguyen and Nico Duina of Pulaski Academy 6-3, 2-6, 6-4 Read and Aguirre had a first-round bye and beat Sam Brown and Trammell Hastings of Clinton 6-0, 6-1. Nordin and Holloway beat Gavin Hensley and Ace Kohler of Conway Christian 6-0, 6-1.
