Top 15 LA City Section High School Football Rankings, Aug. 24

Week 1 in high school football in Southern California has wrapped up. Things in the LA City Section did not see many changes after the first weekend of action.
Carson gets an impressive win over San Diego Lincoln. Birmingham and King/Drew struggle in their opening matchups and Dorsey wins big in Week 1.
After Week 0, here are the latest CIF LA City Section football rankings:
TOP 15 RANKINGS, AUG. 24
1. Carson (1-0)
The Colts get a statement 35-31 victory against San Diego power Lincoln. Impressive win for the City Section. | at Dorsey
2. Birmingham (0-1)
Birmingham’s youth showed in a 20-0 loss to a good Southern Section team, Hart. Birmingham will take its lumps during non-league. | vs. Moorpark
3. San Pedro (1-0)
San Pedro looked impressive in a 21-6 win over King/Drew. | vs. West
4. Crenshaw (1-0)
Crenshaw manages to scrape away a victory against Palisades in the last minute of the game. Junior QB transfer Ethan Grant did not play. | vs. Long Beach Jordan
5. Garfield (1-0)
The Bulldogs get a 49-35 victory over Montebello. Senior RB Ceasar Reyes ran for 277 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries running for 277 yards and five touchdowns on 28 carries. | vs. South El Monte

It was a slow night for the Golden Eagles as they struggled to create consistent opportunities on offense and struggled to stop the run in their 21-6 loss to San Pedro. They had a number of players injured and not cleared yet on the sidelines Friday night. | at Culver City
7. Marquez (1-0)
Marquez had to come from behind to beat 34-32 Verdugo Hills Friday night. Slow start to the season for the Gladiators. | at Bell
8. Hamilton (0-0)
Hamilton did not have a game last week. | at Gardena Serra
9. Venice (0-1)
Venice was competitive in their 36-17 defeat to St. Monica. | at Granada Hills Charter
10. South Gate (0-1)
South Gate struggled greatly in a 48-6 loss to La Mirada. Expect more road bumps for this young South Gate team as they continue their brutal non-league schedule. | vs. Los Altos
11. Banning (1-0)
Banning took care of business against South East winning 31-6. | at Huntington Park
12. Palisades (0-1)
Palisades showed they are a real contender for Division 1 by hanging in there until the last play of the game against Crenshaw. | at Harvard-Westlake
13. El Camino Real (0-1)
El Camino travelled to Hawaii to take on Kauai ultimately falling just short 28-21. This should be a morale booster for the roster. | vs. Heritage Christian
14. Kennedy (1-0)
The Cougars showed that they still have firepower in the offense in a 42-14 victory against Eagle Rock. | vs. Pasadena
15. Dorsey (1-0)
Dorsey showed no mercy and dominated against Dymally. Final score was 72-0. The Dons will be tested big time next week. | vs. Carson
