We have 12 candidates for you to choose from

The Florida High School Boys Basketball season is in full swing and we continue our Player of the Week polls for areas all around the state. Teams started off the regular season with some great individual performances.

As such, we have 12 athletes nominated this week for the SBLive’s Tampa Bay Florida high school boys basketball player of the week award from January 8-13, and we ask you, the fans, to help decide who should indeed be the top athlete selected. Voting will conclude on Sunday, January 21st at 11:59 p.m. The winner will be announced in next week's poll.

Congratulations to Wesley Chapel's Trey Murray for winning last week’s Tampa Bay poll!

Editor’s note: Our corresponding poll is intended to be fun, and we do not set limits on how many times a fan can vote during the competition. This poll is specifically for fans to vote on the players that have been nominated and in no way discredits any other player that may not be mentioned in our poll.

Here are the nominations:

Nate Boakye, Jesuit: On any given night, Boakye can fill up the stat sheet for the Tigers. He did so at the Tiger Palace last week, scoring 21 points, eight rebounds and six steals in a 59-51 district win over Sickles.

Bryan Vargas, Cristo Rey Tampa: Vargas had a big time game in Cristo Rey Tampa's 64-57 win over American Youth Academy. The junior scored 30 points, five rebounds and five assists.

Jordani Blanc, Zephyrhills Christian Academy: The Warriors came out on top in a 53-43 victory over Academy at the Lakes and Blanc had a large role in the win. Blanc scored a team-high 26 points, nine rebounds and three blocks.

Braden Joyner, Brooksville Central: Joyner in ways was not far off from the very rare quadruple-double for the Bears. The senior scored 19 points, 11 rebounds, nine steals and seven assists in a 79-26 win over Citrus.

Oneal Delancey, Gibbs: The freshman has had a nice season for the Gladiators and led the way in a 85-24 win, with Delancey scoring a team-high 15 points and four assists.

Devonte Spears, Chamberlain: The sophomore went off in the Storm's 72-70 victory over Hillsborough, with a game-high 35 points.

Cameron Crowe, Strawberry Crest: Despite coming in a losing effort, Crowe led the Chargers with a game-high 32 points in a 76-60 loss to Tampa Bay Tech.
