Logan Thompson, Althoff (Illinois) 2028 athlete, picks up SEC offer

Logan Thompson hasn't officially started his freshman year at Belleville (Ill.) Althoff Catholic but the talented 2028 football prospect already has his first Division I scholarship offer.
Thompson, a 5-foot-11, 150-pound wide receiver, announced on X/Twitter on Monday afternoon that he had received an offer from the University of Missouri following a camp with the Tigers.

Thompson is a new name to watch on one of the more talented small schools in Illinois.
Althoff already has a pair of Division I commitments in 2025 running back Dierre Hill Jr. (Oregon) and 2025 defensive tackle Jason Dowell (Missouri). The Crusaders also have a 2025 Division I wide receiver/defensive back prospect in Charleston Coldon, who has offers from Louisville, Indiana, Kansas State and Boston College, among others, and 2027 quarterback Jayden Ellington, who has an early offer from Miami - Ohio.
Back in May, Thompson helped his junior high school win the SIJHSAA Class L State Track & Field championship with three first-place finishes – the 100-meter dash (11.58 seconds), long jump (21 feet 5.25 inches) and 4x100-meter relay. He ran an 11.3 second 100 at an earlier regional meet.
Althoff Catholic went 10-2 a year ago, losing to eventual state champion Camp Point Central in the Class 1A quarterfinals, and averaged 45.3 points per game with Hill, Coldon and Ellington leading the way. The Crusaders should be one of the more interesting teams to watch in Illinois this fall.
