The No. 2-seed St. Cloud Cathedral Crusaders (19-8-2) defeated the No. 7-seed Mahtomedi Zephyrs (11-16-2) 3-0 in the 2025 Minnesota high school boys hockey state tournament Class 1A quarterfinals on Wednesday at the Xcel Energy Center.

St. Cloud Cathedral goalie Keaton LeGrande stopped all 24 Zephyr shots-on-goal as forward Joey Gillespie scored two goals, including one short-handed, to lead the Crusaders to the Class 1A semifinal.

Freshman Bo Schmidt scored in the second period on a shot then went to the top corner from the left face-off circle. John Hirschfeld had two assists in the game.

St. Cloud Cathedral will play the winner of the winner of the Class 1A quarterfinal between No. 3 Northfield Raiders (22-4-2) and the No. 6 Orono Spartans (15-10-3) on Friday at 11 a.m. Mahtomedi will move to the consolation bracket.
