Vote: Who Should Be High School on SI National Boys Athlete of the Week? (8/24/2026)

Each week during the high school sports season, High School on SI will gather the best performances across the country with the help of fans, readers and staff.

Now, it’s your turn to choose a standout among the pack, the best of the best.

Here are the nominees for High School on SI’s National High School Boys Athlete of the Week for August 17-23. Voting closes on Sunday, August 30 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Time). The winner will be announced in the following week’s National High School Boys Athlete of the Week post.

The poll is below the write-ups on each athlete.

Congratulations to Snow Canyon (Utah) senior Parker Olson for winning last week’s High School on SI National Boys Athlete of the Week poll. Olson threw for 402 yards and five touchdowns as Snow Canyon knocked off Spanish Fork in a triple-overtime thriller, 64-62. The senior also ran for a pair of scores.

High School on SI National Boys Athlete of the Week nominees

1. Kingston Allen, senior, Notre Dame Academy (Wisconsin) football

Allen, a four-star Wisconsin commit, had 39 carries for 464 yards and seven touchdowns in a dramatic 56-53 overtime win over Neenah.

2. Conner Battle, sophomore, Speedway (Indiana) football

Battle completed 12 of 19 passes for 352 yards and seven touchdowns in a 47-19 victory over Heritage Christian.

3. Brayden Bendik, senior, Open Door Christian (Ohio) soccer

Bendik had a hat trick as Open Door Christian took down Elyria Catholic, 4-1.

4. James Buck, junior, Spanish Fork (Utah) football

Buck compiled 195 yards from scrimmage and scored four rushing touchdowns, including a go-ahead 24-yard run with six minutes remaining that lifted Spanish Fork to a 33-28 win over Salem Hills.

5. Denzel Carter, senior, La Salle (California) football

Carter ran for 254 yards and four touchdowns while catching two passes for 61 yards and a pair of scores in a 60-52 victory over Cantwell-Sacred Heart.

6. Trever Christensen, senior, Manti (Utah) football

Christensen picked off two passes with a 68-yard return touchdown while notching three receptions for 49 yards and two more scores in a 54-7 win over Juan Diego. The senior also had eight total tackles and a pass breakup.

7. Troy Clemmer, junior, Zionsville (Indiana) football

Clemmer notched two interceptions, a fumble recovery and a tackle for loss in a 24-6 victory over Pike.

8. Clark Cokley, senior, JSerra (California) football

Cokley had 12 receptions for 116 yards in a 42-21 win over Sierra Canyon.

9. Merrick Joska, junior, Owensboro (Kentucky) football and soccer

Joska netted a hat trick in a 5-1 victory over Daviess County. He also made a 30-yard field goal in the football team’s 24-7 win over rival Louisville St. Xavier.

10. Gabe Miller, senior, St. Joseph Central (West Virginia) soccer

Miller tallied three goals and three assists in a 10-0 shutout of Herbert Hoover.

11. Jayman Mintz, junior, Glencoe (Alabama) football

Mintz threw for 248 yards and five touchdowns as Glencoe cruised by Hayden, 35-8.

12. Demetrius Roberson, senior, Sacred Heart-Griffin (Illinois) football

On fourth-and-two from the 42-yard line, Roberson made a spectacular one-handed catch in the end zone with 9.2 seconds remaining that lifted Sacred Heart-Griffin to a 27-23 win over Lincoln-Way Central.

13. Titus Vidlak, senior, Fruitland (Idaho) football

Vidlak, a Montana State commit, ran for 197 yards and four touchdowns while completing 13 of 16 passes for 136 yards and one TD in a 42-21 victory over Kimberly.

14. Alex Wallace, senior, Oakwood (Illinois) football

Wallace threw for 258 yards and four touchdowns in a 61-14 rout of Bismarck-Henning/Rossville-Alvin.

15. Makael Williams, senior, Pace (Florida) football

Williams, a South Alabama commit, had 17 carries for 264 yards and four touchdowns as Pace hammered Crestview, 56-28.

16. Cole Zlateff, senior, Lakeland (Idaho) soccer

Zlateff was responsible for all four of his team’s goals in a 4-0 shutout of Lewiston. The junior scored three goals and had an assist.

About Our Athlete of the Week Voting

High School on SI voting polls are meant to be a fun, lighthearted way for fans to show support for their favorite athletes and teams. Our goal is to celebrate all of the players featured, regardless of the vote totals. Sometimes one athlete will receive a very large number of votes — even thousands — and that’s okay! The polls are open to everyone and are simply a way to build excitement and community around high school sports. Unless we specifically announce otherwise, there are no prizes or official awards for winning. The real purpose is to highlight the great performances of every athlete included in the poll.
