ROUND ROCK, Texas — After a bases-loaded sac fly made it a one-run game again, senior third baseman Aidan LeMasters stepped into the batters' box for Boyd.

LeMasters squared up a pitch that he drove into right field with one out in the bottom of the seventh.

His line drive into the outfield drove in the game-tying run from third and the winning run from second, as the Boyd Yellowjackets walked off to beat the Maypearl Tigers in a dramatic 8-7 comeback win in the Class 3A state semifinals Friday morning at Dell Diamond.

More Texas high school baseball

Maypearl (30-10) wraps up its 2023 campaign following the loss, which ended the Tigers' historic season after reaching the UIL Baseball State Tournament for the first time since 2005.

Boyd (39-5), meanwhile, improved to 11-1 this postseason with the victory and advances to the state title game for the first time in school history.

The Yellowjackets will face the winner of Corpus Christi London (-) and Wall (-) in the Class 3A UIL Baseball State Championship game at 9 a.m. on Saturday, June 10th, at Dell Diamond in Round Rock.
