The Tigers have moved aggressively to try to land Johnny Damon, presenting him with one- and two-year offers. Both offers are believed to pay Damon at least $7 million a year, maybe a bit north of that. He is deliberating whether he wants to sign for one or two years and is also weighing offers from the Braves and White Sox.

The Tigers are seen as the favorite to land Damon right now, according to AL sources. It appears Damon will beat the $6 million deal the Yankees floated a few weeks ago.

The Tigers are looking or a leadoff hitter after having traded Curtis Granderson to the Yankees this offseason, and while the White Sox acquired Juan Pierre earlier this winter, they still seek help at the top of the lineup.
