A top candidate to win the NL Cy Young in 2010, Halladay produced his signature performance as a Phillie, striking out 11 Marlins and notching the 20th perfect game in MLB history in the Phillies 1-0 win over the Marlins on May 29. Florida catcher Ronny Paulino made the 27th and final out, grounding to third base, clinching one of the most historic achievements in Philadelphia sports history.

Braden was perfect on Mother's Day, recording the first perfect game for Oakland in 42 years in the A's 4-0 win over Tampa Bay on May 9. He was also the beneficiary of some flashy glovework, courtesy of Kevin Kouzmanoff, who sprinted to the dirt in front of Oakland's dugout to catch a foul popup by Dioner Navarro for the second out in the sixth. The left-hander pointed to the sky in honor of his single mom, Jodie Atwood, who died of skin cancer when he was a high school senior. He shared a long and tearful hug with his grandmother Lindsey, who helped raise him, in front of the dugout.
