Marlins sign Vazquez to 1-year deal

The Marlins have agreed on a one-year, $7 million deal with free-agent starting pitcher Javier Vazquez.

Vazquez, 34, went 10-10 with a 5.32 ERA for the Yankees in 2010, his worst ERA since his rookie season with the Expos in 1998.

The Marlins are Vazquez's sixth team. In addition to the Yankees and Expos, he's played for the Diamondbacks, White Sox and Braves.

Vazquez joins a rotation that includes All-Star Josh Johnson, Ricky Nolasco and Anibal Sanchez.
