CLEVELAND (AP) -- The Cleveland Indians have agreed to terms with free agent right-hander Brett Myers on a one-year contract.

Myers, who pitched for Houston and the Chicago White Sox last season, will get a chance to win a spot in Cleveland's starting rotation. His deal with the Indians includes a club option for 2014. It will not be finalized until he passes a physical.

Myers went 3-4 with a 3.14 ERA in 35 relief appearances with the White Sox, who acquired him in a July trade with the Astros. The 32-year-old was 0-4 last season with a 3.52 ERA in 35 games for Houston.

Myers has a 97-93 career record with a 4.20 ERA in 249 starts. He spent eight seasons with Philadelphia before signing as a free agent with Houston in 2010.
