B.J. and Justin Upton hit consecutive solo home runs off Colorado starter Jon Garland to lead off the fifth inning of the Braves' 10-2 win in the nightcap of their doubleheader against the Rockies on Tuesday. In doing so, they became just the second pair of brothers in major league history to hit back-to-back home runs, joining Hall of Famers Lloyd and Paul Waner, who accomplished it for the 1938 Pirates.

As if that weren't special enough, the Uptons performed the feat in just the second game of their major league careers in which they had consecutive at-bats. The first was the first game of Tuesday's double-header, in which Justin homered but B.J. went 0-for-5. The Waners, meanwhile, started in consecutive spots in the Pirates' lineup 759 times over 11 seasons before finally hitting back-to-back homers on September 15, 1938. Then again, Justin Upton's major league leading 11 home runs thus far this season, a Braves record for the month of April, are as many as the pint-sized Waners hit combined in 1938.

Here's B.J.'s homer, which came on a 2-2 curveball he pulled down the left-field line:

And Justin's, an opposite-field bomb on the very next pitch:

With those home runs, the Uptons have gone deep in the same game three times this season, with Justin homering in all three games in which B.J. has gone yard. The next time both brothers homer in the same game, they'll tie the career record of four times shared by Jason and Jeremy Giambi and Vladimir and Wilton Guerrero. The Uptons are not only going to break the record for most games in which both brothers have homered this season, they're going to obliterate it.
