Dodgers shortstop Hanley Ramirez was placed on the 15-day disabled list with a right oblique strain on Sunday, the team announced.

In his place, the Dodgers recalled infielder Darwin Barney from Albuquerque.

SI WIRE: Matt Garza won't come off DL next week, says Brewers manager

The 30-year-old three-time All-Star had undergone an MRI after being forced from Friday's 9-3 loss in Milwaukee to the Brewers. Manager Don Mattingly had said at the time that the injury "doesn't sound good."

Ramirez, eligible for free agency after the season, has missed 25 starts while battling through shoulder and calf injuries. The Dodgers remained atop the NL West heading into Sunday's series finale against the Brewers.
