Report: Three teams in mix to sign Cuban outfielder Rusney Castillo

The Boston Red Sox, Detroit Tigers and San Francisco Giants are actively involved in negotiations for Cuban free-agent outfielder Rusney Castillo, reports Fox Sports’ Ken Rosenthal.

Castillo, 27, recently held private workouts for eight teams: the Red Sox, Philadelphia Phillies, New York Yankees, Chicago Cubs, Tigers, Giants, Seattle Mariners and Cincinnati Reds.​

According to the report, Castillo could command a five-year contract worth at least $60 million. He is represented by Jay Z's Roc Nation Sports.

For Castillo to be on a team's playoff roster, he must be signed by Sept. 1.
