Blue Jays' Brett Lawrie out for season with oblique injury
Blue Jays infielder Brett Lawrie will miss the remainder of the season after being transferred to the 60-day disabled list, the team announced Tuesday.
Lawrie went on the 15-day DL with an oblique strain in early August, one day after returning from a 36-game DL stint with a broken finger.

By putting Lawrie on the 60-day DL, the Blue Jays create an additional spot on the 40-man roster for September call-ups.
Lawrie was limited to 70 games this season. He batted .254 with 12 home runs and 38 RBIs.

The Blue Jays are 10 games behind the Orioles in the AL East and 5.5 games behind the Tigers for the second Wild Card spot.
