Forget the fact they just lost three of four to their division rivals. Milwaukee Brewers catcher Jonathan Lucroy believes his team is still better than the St. Louis Cardinals.

"We've got a lot of older guys in here with a lot of experience, and we've got a lot of younger guys in here with no experience. It's a good mix, and we've got to find a way to keep grinding it out and playing hard. We need to get that edge back; we need to get that energy back and move forward," Lucroy said after Sunday's 9-1 loss, according to the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel.

"We still have time; we definitely have time. They always play us good but I still believe we're better than they are. I do. All around, player for player matchups, I believe we are. We're not playing up to our potential and we need to get that energy back and get going again."

The Journal-Sentinel's Tom Haudricourt reported the Brewers held a team meeting after Sunday's loss. The Brewers have lost nine out of their last 10 games, and the three losses this weekend put them five games back of the NL Central Division-rival Cardinals. The Brewers also dropped out of the No. 2 National League Wild Card slot and now sit one-half game back of the Pittsburgh Pirates

"You know what, a sense of urgency is something that we need to get ahold of, as a team, as a unit," Lucroy said. "Something like that kind of wakes you up. We got punched in the mouth today. It's about time we woke up from our little trance we've been in and get moving forward."
