Joe Girardi on Jeter being hit: 'We're going to be pissed'

New York Yankees manager Joe Girardi voiced his displeasure with incurring five hit batters - including Derek Jeter - in recent games, telling reporters after he was ejected from Tuesday's 6-1 loss to Tampa Bay, "we're going to be pissed."
"I'm tired of my guys getting hit, and where they're getting hit," Girardi told reporters. He went on, "If you're going to pitch inside, do it the right way. And if you can't, don't pitch inside," according to the Wall Street Journal's Dan Barbarisi.
The game started out on a friendly note. Tampa Bay bid the retiring Jeter farewell by donating to his charity, and presenting him with a framed Don Zimmer jersey as well as a kayak.
Tempers flared in the eighth inning, however, when Tampa Bay pitcher Steve Geltz hit Jeter with a pitch. After umpire Rob Drake warned both benches, Joe Girardi came out of the dugout and gestured at Geltz. Girardi, as well as two other Yankees players, were ejected.
The Yankees ended play Tuesday night six and a half games out of the final American League Wild Card playoff spot with 12 games left to play.
