CLEVELAND (AP) Cleveland Indians pitchers have set a major league record for strikeouts in one season.

Detroit's pitchers fanned 1,428 in 2013.

Tampa Bay also can pass the Tigers' mark. The Rays went into Friday with 1,413 strikeouts.
