The Toronto Blue Jays will look into bringing natural grass to Rogers Centre, the team announced Thursday. 

Team president Paul Beeston said the Blue Jays have signed a contract with University of Guelph to research installing natural grass at the stadium. The goal would be to bring in grass by 2018.

Toronto has used a form of artificial turf at Rogers Centre (formerly known as the SkyDome) since its opening in 1989.

Rogers Centre and Tropicana Field are the only two MLB stadiums that do not currently use natural grass.
