Watch: Rockies defeat Padres with walk-off single

The Colorado Rockies defeated the San Diego Padres5–4 on a walk-off single by pinch-hitter Daniel Descalso on Wednesday.
Colorado at one point held a 3-1 lead, but the game entered the ninth inning tied 4–4. Rockies closer Adam Ottavino set the Padres down in order in the top of the frame before the Rockies loaded the bases in the bottom of the inning.
Nolan Arenado led off with a single and advanced to third two batters later on a single by Michael McKenry. Padres reliever Shawn Kelly then intentionally walked DJ LeMahieu to load the bases with one out, and Descalso came up to pinch-hit for Ottavino.

After fouling off the pitch, Descalso knocked a single to deep left-center to score Arenado for the winning run—despite the Padres putting five players in the infield.
The Rockies (8–7) snapped a five-game losing skid, while the Padres (10-6) lost their first game in four tries.
