Kansas City Royals reliever Kelvin Herrera surrendered his first home run since July 26, 2013 on Tuesday against the Cleveland Indians

Herrera came on to pitch in the eighth inning with the Royals holding a 4–2 lead. Indians third baseman Lonnie Chisenhall led off the inning with a solo home run, the first off Herrera in 105 1/3 innings. The pitcher's streak was a Kansas City franchise record.

The Royals went on to win the game over Cleveland 5–3.

Herrera has a 2.38 ERA with 13 strikeouts and a 1.32 WHIP in 11 1/3 innings this season. Last year, the 25-year-old had a 1.32 ERA and 59 strikeouts in 70 innings.

Before his streak started, Herrera had given up nine home runs in 2013. He has now given up 15 in his 219-game career.
