Milwaukee Brewers pitcher Will Smith was ejected from Thursday's 10–1 loss to the Atlanta Braves after umpires found a foreign substance on his arm.

Smith entered the game in the bottom of the seventh inning with Atlanta leading 2–1. He threw a first-pitch strike to the second batter he faced, Jace Peterson, when manager Fredi Gonzalez asked umpires to check on the left-handed pitcher.

Crew chief Jim Joyce ejected Smith after the umpires approached the mound and checked his arm. Neal Cotts replaced Smith on the mound for Milwaukee and surrendered an RBI single to Peterson.

Smith entered Thursday's game with a 2.13 ERA and 18 strikeouts in 12 2/3 innings this season.
