Cuban pitching prospect Norge Luis Ruiz has left the country and will be looking to sign a Major League contract, reports MLB.com's Jesse Sanchez.

Ruiz, 21, has pitched with multiple teams in the Cuban National Series and is considered one of the top pitchers in Cuba.

Last month Baseball America ranked Ruiz as the No. 8 overall prospect in Cuba.

The outlet notes that Ruiz has "shown midrotation starter potential with average to above-average stuff across the board and polished feel for pitching well beyond his years."

Ruiz potentially could join an MLB team during the next international signing period.
