Red Sox OF Shane Victorino leaves game with calf tightness
Boston Red Sox outfielder Shane Victorino left Saturday's game against the Los Angeles Angels in the third inning with calf tightness, the team announced.
Victorino was scratched from Thursday's game after experiencing discomfort in the calf during warmups. He sat out on Friday, too, but his return on Saturday was cut short when he was pulled in the bottom of the third inning.
Manager John Farrell said in an in-game interview with FOX that Victorino's calf "started to tighten up" when he beat out an infield hit in the first inning.
Mookie Betts pinch hit for Victorino, playing centerfield. Rusney Castillo moved from center to rightfield. Castillo, who signed a seven-year, $72.5 million contract last year, was recently promoted from Triple A.
Victorino missed two months last season with a back injury and three weeks earlier this season with a hamstring injury.
