The Marlins have placed first baseman Michael Morse on the 15-day disabled list due to a finger sprain, the team announced Tuesday.

The move is retroactive to May 24.

Morse is in his first season with the Marlins after spending last season with the San Francisco Giants. Morse has struggled this season, batting .211 with two home runs and 10 RBIs in 138 plate appearances.

Morse hasn't started since May 19, though he has pinch-hit in his last three games.

In a corresponding move, the Marlins called up pitcher Jose Ureña from Triple A New Orleans. Ureña is 4-0 with a 1.21 ERA in six starts this season, his first in Triple A.

Miami currently sits in fifth place in the NL East with an 18-28 record. The Marlins play at the Pirates on Tuesday night.
