Braves designate OF Eric Young Jr for assignment

ATLANTA (AP) The Atlanta Braves have designated outfielder Eric Young Jr. for assignment and reinstated outfielder-first baseman Joey Terdoslavich from the 15-day disabled list.

Young was hitting only .169 with no homers, five RBIs and three stolen bases. He became a little-used backup after Cameron Maybin took over the starting job in center field. Young had only 13 at-bats in May.

Terdoslavich was placed on the disabled list on April 5 with a sprained left wrist and began a minor league rehabilitation assignment on May 25. He has hit .235 in 64 games with Atlanta the last two seasons.

Terdoslavich was expected to be with the team for Friday night's game against Pittsburgh.
