Rangers place Ohlendorf on disabled list

KANSAS CITY, Mo. (AP) The Texas Rangers put right-hander Ross Ohlendorf on the 15-day disabled list Sunday with a strained right groin.

Ohlendorf was 1-0 with one save and a 3.52 ERA in eight relief appearances. The move was retroactive to Thursday.

Rookie right-hander Spencer Patton was recalled from Triple-A Round Rock, where he had a 0.53 ERA with five saves in five opportunities in 16 relief appearances, while holding opposing batters to a .175 average. He struck out 22 in 17 innings.

Patton was up for 10 days in May and gave up three runs in three innings. He was acquired from the Kansas City Royals on July 16, 2014 trade for right-hander Jason Frasor.
