HOUSTON (AP) Houston Astros All-Star second baseman Jose Altuve is out of the lineup with a hamstring injury on Saturday against the Seattle Mariners.

Altuve was injured trying to beat the throw on a grounder in the first inning on Friday night. He has a strained right hamstring and is listed as day to day.

He says he feels better Saturday than he did Friday night and doesn't think the injury is serious. He hopes a few days rest and treatment will help him get back on the field.

Altuve, who won the batting title last season, is hitting .290 with five homers and 27 RBIs for the first-place Astros.

Marwin Gonzalez took his spot at second base on Saturday.
