The Los Angeles Dodgers have placed third baseman Justin Turner on the disabled list with an infection.

The move is retroactive to July 27. Turner was hospitalized with a leg infection earlier in the week, and while manager Don Mattingly was hopeful Turner would be able to miss the DL, Los Angeles will be without their starter at the hot corner for a couple weeks at minimum.

Turner, 30, went to the hospital Tuesday after a pimple on his leg became infected.

A versatile fielder, Turner has logged time at all four infield positions this season. He leads the team with a .323 batting average, and his .950 OPS is 53 points higher than the career-high he set last year. He also has 13 home runs and 44 RBIs.
