Red Sox president Dombrowski says no GM interviews yet

BOSTON (AP) Recently hired Boston Red Sox president of baseball operations Dave Dombrowski says he still hasn't spoken to any candidates about the soon-to-be vacant general manager opening.

Speaking Wednesday before the Red Sox faced AL East-leading Toronto, Dombrowski said: ''No, I haven't started anything with that other than having a list compiled.''

Dombrowski was hired on Aug. 18. At the time, the team said that GM Ben Cherington decided he would leave after the transition.

Dombrowski said during his introductory press conference that he had hoped Cherington would stay.
