Watch: Blue Jays erupt for six runs in third inning of Game 3, chase Cueto
The Blue Jays jumped out to an early 9–2 lead in Game 3 of the ALCS against the Royals thanks in part to a six-run third inning that helped chase Kansas City starter Johnny Cueto from the game.
Cueto allowed four runs in the third before he was replaced by Kris Medlen. Troy Tulowitzki hit a three-run homer and Kevin Pillar hit an RBI double. Pillar later scored on a two-run home run by Josh Donaldson off Medlen, so Cueto was charged with five runs in the inning while Medlen was charged with one.

Cueto, who pitched well in Kansas City’s ALDS Game 5 win over the Astros, allowed a total of eight runs in the game, the most in the franchise’s limited playoff history.
The home runs were Toronto’s first since Jose Bautista’s dramatic blast in Game 5 against the Rangers.
Toronto entered the game trailing 2–0 in the series.
