The Mets’ bats stayed hot against the Cubs in Game 4, with first baseman Lucas Duda and catcher Travis d’Arnaud going back-to-back off Jason Hammel in the first inning.

New York got out to a 4–0 lead and advanced to the World Series with an 8–3 win.

Hammel allowed a single to Curtis Granderson, then retired David Wright and Daniel Murphy. Granderson stole second base, and then cleanup hitter YoenisCespedes took a walk, paving the way for Duda’s three-run shot. With a 3–2 count, he took Hammel deep to center, followed by d’Arnaud, who added insult to injury and gave the Mets another run.

Chicago had to play from behind early against Mets pitcher Steven Matz as it looks to stave off elimination. Hammel was removed after 1 1/3 innings pitched.
