Bryce Harper, Josh Donaldson win NL, AL Hank Aaron Awards

Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper and Blue Jays third baseman Josh Donaldsonhave been named MLB’s 2015 Hank Aaron Award winners for the National and American League.

The award honors each league’s top hitter as voted on by fans and media. Harper and Donaldson are first-time winners.

Donaldson, 29, was a cornerstone of baseball’s top offense in his first year with the Blue Jays. He hit .297 with a career-high 41 home runs, 122 runs scored and 123 RBIs.

Harper, 23, batted .330 and led the league in on-base percentage (.460) and slugging (.649). Harper hit a career-high 42 home runs, driving in 99 and drawing 124 walks.

Donaldson accepted his award at Citi Field in New York prior to Saturday’s World Series game. Harper was unable to attend.
