Pirates claim reliever Knudson from Tigers

PITTSBURGH (AP) The Pittsburgh Pirates have claimed reliever Guido Knudson off waivers from the Detroit Tigers.

The 26-year-old Knudson allowed 10 runs in five innings across four appearances for Detroit in 2015. The right-hander went a combined 1-2 with 11 saves, a 2.56 ERA and 60 strikeouts in 40 appearances between Double-A Erie and Triple-A Toledo this year.

Knudson was originally taken in the 28th round of the 2011 first-year player draft.

The move was announced on Monday.
