The MLB off-season is still in it's infancy, but there’s already a litany of rumblings and rumors around the league about contract situations and upcoming forays into free agency.

• The New York Yankees and Seattle Mariners have had discussions about a trade centered around Yankees outfielder Brett Gardner, reports Joel Sherman of the New York Post.

• The Yankees announced they traded catcher John Ryan Murphy to the Minnesota Twins for outfielder Aaron Hicks.

• The Atlanta Braves are listening to trade offers for shortstop Andrelton Simmons, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

• The Toronto Blue Jays have reportedly talked to the Cincinnati Reds about a potential trade for closer Aroldis Chapman.

• The Braves have signed free-agent catcher A.J. Pierzynski to a one-year deal, reports Ken Rosenthal of Fox Sports.

• The Kansas City Royals are interested in free-agent pitcher Darren O’Day, reports ESPN’s Buster Olney.
