Dodgers agree to 1-year deal with pitcher Joe Wieland

LOS ANGELES (AP) Pitcher Joe Wieland and the Los Angeles Dodgers have agreed to a $590,000, one-year contract, avoiding arbitration.

The 25-year-old right-hander spent most of last season at Triple-A Oklahoma City, going 10-5 with a 4.59 ERA in 22 appearances. He made two starts for the Dodgers, allowing eight runs and 10 hits in 8 2/3 innings.

In 11 career big league games, Wieland is 1-5 with a 5.85 ERA.

He was selected by Texas in the fourth round of the 2008 amateur draft and made his major league debut in 2012 with San Diego.

The team announced the deal Tuesday, a day before the deadline to offer 2016 to players on 40-man rosters.
