• The Los Angeles Dodgers have acquired closer Aroldis Chapman from the Cincinnati Reds for two prospects, reports Jon Heyman of CBS Sports.

• The Dodgers also announced they have signed pitcher Hisashi Iwakuma to a three-year deal and second baseman Chase Utley to a one-year deal.

• Pitcher Jeff Samardzijasigned a five-year, $90 million with the San Francisco Giants, the team announced.

• Washington Nationals closer Jonathan Papelbon has filed a grievance against the team for suspending him four games without pay for choking teammate Bryce Harper in the dugout in September, reports Rob Bradford of WEEI.
