MLB executives didn’t slow down for the holidays, as several teams made acquisitions into the new year. Multiple big-name free agents remain on the market, however, which will continue to provide plenty of rumblings and rumors in advance of Spring Training.

• The San Francisco Giants are reportedly in close contact with outfielder Dexter Fowler, the free agent’s personal Twitter account indicated.

• Free agent infielder/outfielder Steve Pearce is seeking a two-year deal in free agency, according to’s Rich Dubroff.

• The Washington Nationals have contacted outfielder Gerardo Parra, reports’s Bill Ladson.

• Veteran free agent righthander Doug Fister has received multiple one-year and two-year contract offers, reports ESPN’s Buster Olney.

• Righthanded pitcher Edwin Jackson has signed an MLB deal with the Miami Marlins, reports Fox Sports Radio’s Deb Carson.

• Free agent center field Denard Span posted a video on his Twitter account to show that he’s healthy after undergoing hip surgery four months ago.

• The Arizona Diamondbacks have been in contact with free agent infielder Howie Kendrick, but the team is hesitant to part with a draft choice for him, according to MLB Network’s Jon Heyman.
