Minor leaguers Mann and Tate suspended

NEW YORK (AP) Oakland pitcher Brandon Mann was suspended Tuesday for 80 games and Atlanta pitcher Richie Tate for 100 games for violations of baseball's minor league drug testing program.

Mann tested positive for Ostarine, a Selective Androgen Receptor Modulator, the commissioner's office said. A SARM acts similar to anabolic steroids.

Tate tested positive for a drug of abuse for the third time, MLB said.

A 31-year-old left-hander, Mann was a 27th-round pick in the 2002 amateur draft and is on the roster of Triple-A Nashville. He was 1-4 with a 2.91 ERA in two starts and 12 relief appearances in 2014 for Double-A Altoona, then struck out 157 in 143 2-3 innings while going 7-10 with a 4.07 ERA last year for Fargo in the American Association, an independent league.

Tate, a 23-year-old right-hander, was 3-1 with a 2.50 ERA last season for in 28 relief appearances for Class A Carolina.

There have been 15 suspensions this year under the minor league program, including 11 for drugs of abuse.
