Dodgers touch Peralta for 5 runs in 1st, beat Brewers 6-2

GLENDALE, Ariz. (AP) Justin Turner hit an RBI double in his first spring at-bat and Mike Bolsinger threw four scoreless innings in the Dodgers' 6-2 victory over the Milwaukee Brewers on Monday.

Turner lined a shot off right-hander Wily Peralta in the first inning, scoring Micah Johnson, who led off with a single.

The Dodgers scored five runs in the first, including a three-run homer by outfielder Trayce Thompson, who has two this spring.

Turner also scored twice, in the first and the third, the latter on a double from Adrian Gonzalez. Turner, who started at third base, has been working his way back from surgery on his left knee in October.

''Everything was a test to see how I felt playing on both sides of the ball,'' said Turner, who hopes to play again Wednesday and Friday ''I had extra adrenaline getting out there with fans in the stands. Everything went well.''

STARTING TIME

Brewers: Peralta surrendered six runs, a walk and a wild pitch. He also struck out four of the last five batters he faced.

''I think it went pretty good,'' Peralta said. ''Gave up a couple runs but I got a lot of ground balls, and that's what I want. That means the sinker is working.''

Dodgers: Bolsinger, who is a contender for the fifth spot in the starting rotation, limited the Brewers to two hits, both singles. His solid outing surprised him. ''I was throwing my bullpen before the game and I wasn't looking very good,'' he said. ''Surprisingly, I came out so sharp. There are a ton of guys who can take that fifth role as well as I can.''

SPRING BREAK

Gonzalez, the Dodgers' first baseman, will leave camp Tuesday after a game against the White Sox to play for Mexico in a 2017 World Baseball Classic qualifying round, which will run from Wednesday through Sunday. Gonzalez is expected to rejoin the club next Monday.

TIME FOR A TRIM

The Dodgers were expected to make their first cuts late Monday.

''Probably six or seven,'' Roberts said. ''Tomorrow, we'll be a little thinner.''

ON THE SIDE

The Dodgers' Scott Kazmir worked five innings Monday, throwing 69 pitches in a simulated game. His fastball was clocked at 86 to 89 miles an hour. ''I didn't want to overthrow,'' the left-hander said. ''We're still building arm strength.''

Manager Dave Roberts said Kazmir wasn't happy with his fastball command. ''He was frustrated,'' Roberts said. ''His fastball was a little elevated.''

Hyun-jin Ryu, who is coming off shoulder surgery, also threw his first bullpen since Feb. 26. The Los Angeles left-hander, who was the No. 3 starter in 2013 and 2014, threw 20 pitches, all fastballs.

''It was good,'' Ryu said. ''This is just the process of getting better.''

TRAINER'S ROOM

Brewers: RHP Yhonathan Barrios continues to be sidelined by a shoulder injury he suffered March 7. It's not certain when he'll be able to throw.

Dodgers: Turner said a key to his spring debut would be in how he feels Tuesday. ''It's about seeing how I bounce back,'' he said

UP NEXT

Brewers: After an off day Tuesday, they resume their schedule Wednesday in Maryvale, with RHP Matt Garza to start against White Sox LHP Carlos Rodon.

Dodgers: They are in Glendale on Tuesday with RHP Kenta Maeda set for his third spring start against White Sox LHP Jose Quintana.
