Rays 3B Evan Longoria injures his left shin

CLEARWATER, Fla. (AP) Tampa Bay Rays third baseman Evan Longoria left Thursday's game with a left shin contusion after hitting a foul ball off his foot in the first inning.

Longoria's status wasn't immediately known. He was replaced in the field in the bottom half of the first against the Philadelphia Phillies.

The three-time All-Star has missed only four games over the past three seasons.
