Miami Marlins pitcher Edwin Jackson has been placed on the 15-day disabled list, retroactive to Monday, with a right triceps strain, the team announced on Tuesday.

The right-hander, who the Marlins signed as a free agent in January, has a 2.45 ERA in four appearances out of the bullpen for Miami, allowing one run in 3 2/3 innings.

Miami has called up Nick Wittgren from Triple A New Orleans to replace Jackson on the roster. Wittgren’s first appearance with the Marlins will mark his major league debut.

The Marlins (4–7) face the Washington Nationals at home on Tuesday for the second game of a four-game series.
