Cardinals’ Carlos Martinez exits game due to fatigue

St. Louis Cardinals starting pitcher Carlos Martinez exited Friday night's game against the Pittsburgh Pirates in the fourth inning with fatigue and will be re-examined by team doctors tomorrow, the team announced.

Martinez pitched 6 2/3 innings in his last outing against the Washington Nationals while dealing with flu-like symptoms.

He left the game on Friday after just 52 pitches through 3 1/3 innings.

Tyler Lyons entered the game as a reliever.

Martinez entered his latest start with a 4–1 record and a 2.60 ERA through his first five starts of the season.
