Marlins RHP Nefi Ogando goes on DL with broken rib

MIAMI (AP) Miami Marlins right-hander Nefi Ogando has been placed on the 15-day disabled list because of a broken rib on his right side.

Ogando was hurt covering first base Sunday when he collided with Philadelphia Phillies hitter Cesar Hernandez after both had crossed the bag. Ogando said he expects to be healthy enough to return around the time his DL stint ends.

Ogando has allowed one run in three innings of relief this season. Miami filled his roster spot by recalling right-hander Nick Wittgren from Triple-A New Orleans.
