New York Yankees pitcher CC Sabathia expects to return from the disabled list next week, he told the Associated Press on Wednesday.
Sabathia was placed on the 15-day DL on May 5 with a left groin strain, but he doesn’t expect the injury to keep him out for an extended period of time.
“It’s only going to be the 15 days, I’m sure,” Sabathia said Wednesday.
The soonest the 35-year-old pitcher could be activated is May 20, and manager Joe Girardi said Sabathia seems to be on track to make that date.

In his 16th major league season, Sabathia has started five games and pitched for a 3.81 ERA with a 2–2 record.
