Cabrera leaves game after being hit in knee area with pitch
DETROIT (AP) Miguel Cabrera has left Detroit's game against Tampa Bay on Sunday in the seventh inning after being hit around the left knee with a pitch.
Cabrera was hit by Dana Eveland's pitch while leading off the bottom of the seventh. The Detroit slugger hobbled around for a while, and trainer Kevin Rand came out to check on him. Cabrera went to first to try to play on, but he was removed for a pinch runner moments later. The Tigers say he has a left knee bruise and is day to day.
Cabrera had three hits Sunday, including a homer. He was the second key Detroit player to leave with an injury. Starting pitcher Jordan Zimmermann exited in the sixth with a strained right groin.
